Wildgeese Building Group refurbished rooms at Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn in Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory.  croc hotel room refurbishment

Project Scope: WildGeese Building Group Australia managed the design and refurbishment of the Gagadju Crocodile Hotel.  The specific scope of this project related to:

  • Complete works of demolish and remove all items in each room ( 65 rooms)
  • Construction of all 65 rooms in to specified finishes and upgrade specifications.
  • Managed working hours to fit in with operational Motel functions. To ensure limited disruption to the day to day of the business.

WildGeese Building Group Australia applied best work practices on this project, with very important time frames being met to ensure all 65 rooms were operational for the coming peak tourist season.   WildGeese Building Group Australia achieved significant advantage through the management of this project as our previous experience working with this client on the Yellow Waters Cooinda resort refurbishment therefore giving the client confidence of a quality on time and on budget outcome. We were able to reduce on-site tradespeople resulting in less accommodation and increased installation time preventing disruption by the weather.

Challenges: WildGeese Building GroupAustralia met a number of challenges relevant to completion of this project within a remote location.  Our extensive experience within theNorthern Territory as a locally based company provided the structure and framework through which these challenges can be assessed and mitigated through internal and external processes.  In the completion of this project WildGeese Building Group Australia took a proactive approach to meeting this challenge through:

  • Developing an understanding of the client’s needs, and having the flexibility to undertake significant elements of this construction off-site
  • Utilising best practice model while ensuring utilising local contractors and suppliers where appropriate.
  • Undertaking complete construction of wet area such as kitchens and Joinery off-site

The use of this system prevented extensive delays due to wet weather and reduced the number of tradespeople required to complete this project.  This reduction in tradespeople and materials reduced significant project level risk on transportation of materials and the impact of weather local to this region.
